Josh’s journey to becoming one of Maui’s most sought-after private chefs began in Sonoma County, California, where he spent his early years before moving to Maui as a teenager. The transition to island life ignited a deep appreciation for Hawaii’s vibrant food culture. Though he left high school early, Josh’s passion for cooking became his guiding force, leading him to immerse himself in the culinary world.

Starting in the restaurants of upcountry Maui, Josh worked tirelessly to climb the ranks, learning from the island’s best chefs and honing his skills. His dedication paid off when he became the executive chef at the iconic Hali'imaile General Store, a role that solidified his reputation as a master of his craft.

In 2016, Josh made the pivotal decision to leave the restaurant industry to focus on being a full-time single father. This shift marked the beginning of a new chapter as he launched Fresh Island Catering in 2017, a private cheffing business that allowed him to balance his love for cooking with quality time for his son, Anthony. When Chef Josh is away from the kitchen, he enjoys spending time with his son Anthony (10 years old) by playing golf, enjoying beach days and surfing. Through Fresh Island Catering, Chef Josh discovered the joy of working closely with clients, tailoring each dining experience to their unique tastes and preferences.

Over the years, Chef Josh has had the privilege of cooking for elite clients from around the world, delivering unforgettable meals that celebrate Maui’s bountiful resources and his culinary expertise. Whether it’s an intimate dinner at an exclusive villa on the shores of Wailea or a private home in Kaanapali right on the beach, Chef Josh’s attention to detail and commitment to excellence through his deep connection to the island shine through in every dish he serves. Chef Josh enjoys traveling to all parts of Maui, including private homes in Hana, Kula and Keokea with unmatched island views.
